Does anyone know how long it takes to fly from London to the Caribbean?

1:52 pm - nano monthly meetup

hi folks.

i'm the co-liaison for toronto and we had such a great group this year we have found ways to continue to occasionally spend time with eachother until next nov.

here's hoping you can make some use out of this meetup:

registering with meetup.com is free. it's a great service to meet people on a variety of topics. nanowrimo is just one of them.

congrats on nov being over. see you next year, or perhaps at a nanomonthly meetup.

If talking about those rubber boots called wellingtons, would you capitalise the initial W or not? Word seems to think you do, but I always thought you wouldn't.

Perhaps this is a daft question, but in Australia we call them gumboots.

5:06 am - Have a question.

It's pretty well known that someone's lips can turn blue (or at least blue tinged) in severe cold, but I've only seen images and references of that with caucasians. Anyone know if there's a same or similar reaction with people who have darker complexions? Or, indeed, any visible reaction.

Where would one have a bath in a large country house in Victorian England (circa 1899)? Would there be a bathroom, or would it be the tin-tub-and-hot-water option? Bear in mind that this is a resident, not a servant.

8:15 pm - ^_^

niftykeen community! it's like the Q&A thread on the nano forums....

heh. it's kind of hard to describe my project. my main character is a vampire who gets nabbed by a bunch of humans looking for lab rats in a place that studies the supernatural. some of the other test subjects include a werewolf, a couple of ESPers, a sorceress, a warlock, and various others. the issue is trying to get out alive without alerting the rest of the world to the presence of the supernatural as well. ^_^

the questions i have would be these... does anybody know the effects of cyanide poisoning via ingestion? would anything observably noticeable happen to blood if liquid HCN was mixed in?

strange questions. fear for my characters. XP

12:59 am - Fooooooooooood!

Heya, I'm Celt. I'm doing a modified NaNo, trying to use my 50K words to finish the piles of WIPs I have lying around, rather than creating yet another one ^_^;

I love the idea of this community. I was looking at the character and plot realism board on the NaNo site (forget exactly what it's called), but it's basically the same idea as this place. I'd much rather use LJ though, since the NaNo boards lag horribly -.-

Anyhow! I have a question, or more accurately, a couple of them which I'm hoping someone here might be able to help me with =)

In American public schools, do kids usually bring their own lunches, or buy them at a cafeteria/tuck shop? Do they usually eat in one big hall, or scattered around the school? If you buy food at school, do you have to pay for it on the day, or can you put it on a tab?

That's about it for the moment!

Hi! If you want to introduce yourselves to start with, and give an idea of what sort of book you're working on?

I'm mod here. I'm Delirieuse. I'm working on a historical thriller with an archaeologist heroine. Like Lara Croft, but completely different, and set in around 1899. I have only the sketchiest ideas about plot so far, but I'm hoping that the muses will grace me as I go. How about you?
